  1. Just days before college starts, both of my mother’s children are leaving her to enter the real world. We go out to eat at Mongolian BBQ with my best friend and his mother. After stuffing our faces with some delicious meats and stir fried vegetables while reminiscing a little bit, the waiter convinces us to have some dessert. We order not one but two chocolate cake sundaes; one for each of us. The sundaes include a slice of chocolate cake, ice cream, whipped cream, and hot fudge. Splitting this with my mother in the company of my best friend since 1st grade was a priceless memory.

    • Thanks for sharing. What a wonderful story:) I love Mongolian BBQ BTW. I think chocolate cake is best served in twos, myself.

Here is my chocolate cake story. My mom baked the same cake for all of our birthdays. It was a chocolate “log” cake and during this time of the year she was baking it almost every week as one or other of us had a birthday in January and February–everyone except mom and me. As a matter of fact, my dad’s birthday is tomorrow. Anyway, she used to roll the yellow sponge cake with chocolate butter cream icing. I can still taste the frosting on the beaters of the mixer. Best chocolate cake evah!
